A friend recently sent me a photo of a strange scat that had feather quill tips in it. The end result of the work you described.<br />A side note: your feather is from a cardinal, not a purple finch. So you'd be looking for a predator closer to the ground in dense shrubby vegetation. A weasel still seems to be a good bet.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1194066715822423007.post-77598690680095965052010-02-09T16:53:50.750-05:002010-02-09T16:53:50.750-05:00Ve-e-e-ry clever! You should write a book, your writing is much more interesting than David Reins Wallace and some other authors I have read.squirrelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12297406366801045392noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1194066715822423007.post-33303602455094065202010-02-06T15:14:29.134-05:002010-02-06T15:14:29.134-05:00Nice deducing, Ellen... I always thought clumping meant "mammal" (not just canine) and plucking singly meant "bird," so thanks for sharing the details!Sallyhttp://foothillsfancies.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.com
