Frigid Fridays - the Weekend Weather Report

Weather update for the weekend of
1- 3 January 2010

Friday, 1 January:

Saturday, 2 January:
80% chance of light snow; 1-2" possible. High near 22*F; low overnight around 11*F with wind chill of -5*F possible. North wind between 9 and 15 mph.

Sunday, 3 January:
80% chance of light snow. High hear 17*F; low overnight near 16*F.

The rest of the week looks like it will be overcast with a light snow possible most days.

**Weather is subject to change without notice**

Current snow conditions: We have a bit over a foot of snow. Last weekend we had rain that left a pretty icy crust on the snow (awful), but this was followed by cold temps and about five inches of fluff, so conditions are now pretty darn good. Strong winds earlier in the week blew the fluff around, so some areas are likely to be deeper than 12".

  1. What's the highest it has gotten on that snow measuring stick before?

  2. New York Land Man - the highest I've seen it at our stick was 40 inches in early March 2008. We've only been a NWS Co-op Station since March '05, so our data only go back that far. Most years, though, we've been lucky if we get over 15 inches. 2008 was a very snowy year.
